Centennial is one of the newer cities of the state of Colorado. It was founded on February 7, 2001 from unincorporated portions of Arapahoe County. The citizens of those unincorporated areas had voted to incorporate themselves in 2000 and also voted "Centennial" as the name for their new town. Although Centennial is a relatively new town, the lands themselves have been around for much longer.
